Yet another year of low solar activity which translates to an unstable jet stream and little to no great auroras for me. But we did get a few decent nights of beauty and a couple of nights of star gazing. We are still in aurora season but the time is winding down and the days are finally getting longer again. Although I love winter and the long, dark days/nights, it does get a little depressing when there isn’t any aurora so I’m looking forward to what spring and summer will behold.
I’ve consolidated the best shots I’ve taken in this post.
A full moon drowns out the low powered aurora A recent aurora where Venus shown with great brightness under a blanket of aurora sky view Road lights reflect off the ice Snow lit up by the aurora behind me The aurora that lit up the snow behind me as my friend is photographing on the bridge A dark road to brighter places Giants in the glow of the aurora Giants in the glow of the aurora Giants in the glow of the aurora Sky view from the shore A boat hibernates under the aurora Just another nice shot It was so boring at a time this winter that I was compelled to share a shot from 2017
